Learn The “Why” Behind Internet Marketing
If you are not having much success online, I want you to answer ONE simple question.
Here is the question:
WHY DO PEOPLE WANT…?
…sorry, for the incomplete question, but that is the point. Now apply this question to your niche.
Why do people want to lose weight, make additional income, quit smoking, get a new car, go on vacation…
If you can answer the “WHY” behind marketing any industry, I can assure you will have given it enough thought to succeed with any campaign you launch. I think that you will also discover that there are several answers to this question within any specific industry, and this is where you can start catering to smaller niches.
Let’s just take a look at a couple examples:
**Weight Loss
Why do people want to lose weight? I am sure there are several reasons.
(1) To promote Good Health may be the primary reason.
(2) They may want to fit into a bathing suit for the upcoming summer weather.
(3) They may want to improve their dating life and or impress someone special.
(4) New years may have just passed and losing weight could be their resolution.
And this list could go on and on……
If you read into this industry, things that may not seem so apparent initially, but will become quite obvious fairly quickly. You could easily promote this industry using these four reasons with very targeted campaigns. I can assure that a campaign based on the reasons mentioned would be much more effective than trying promote to people under a general keyword term like “DIETING”!!!!!
**Making Additional Income
Why do people want to make an additional income? Well, the obvious reasons would be so that they can have more freedom, and spend more. Eventhough may be true, are we answering the real question here?
People may want to make additional income because they have just lost their job. People want additonal income because they may need to get out of debt. People may want more money because they hate their day jobs. People want more money because they don’t want to work forever. People want to make money so when they retire they do not need to depend on social security. People want to make money to help with tuition fees or for extra money while they go to school.
If you promote the term “make money” in Google, you are not targeting an audience…you are targeting a market. You need to target a specific audience if you plan to be a successful Internet Marketer. People typing in a term like “make money” will not reveal which audience they represent. A college student might Google a keyword phrase like “easy way to pay tuition bills” or “earn money while going to school”. If you can construct a targeted site for college students, you could really tap into this niche market…
If anyone is having difficulty creating a successful campaign, they should think about the “why” before promoting to the audience. If you cannot figure this out, then chances are that you will not be able to deliver the right information to the right people. If this is the case, stop what you are doing and move on to the next industry!
