Learn The “Why” Behind Internet Marketing

If you are not having much success online, I want you to answer ONE simple question.

Here is the question:

WHY DO PEOPLE WANT…?

…sorry, for the incomplete question, but that is the point. Now apply this question to your niche.

Why do people want to lose weight, make additional income, quit smoking, get a new car, go on vacation…

If you can answer the “WHY” behind marketing any industry, I can assure you will have given it enough thought to succeed with any campaign you launch. I think that you will also discover that there are several answers to this question within any specific industry, and this is where you can start catering to smaller niches.

Let’s just take a look at a couple examples:

**Weight Loss

Why do people want to lose weight? I am sure there are several reasons. 

(1) To promote Good Health may be the primary reason.

(2) They may want to fit into a bathing suit for the upcoming summer weather.

(3) They may want to improve their dating life and or impress someone special.

(4) New years may have just passed and losing weight could be their resolution. 

And this list could go on and on……

If you read into this industry,  things that may not seem so apparent initially, but will become quite obvious fairly quickly. You could easily promote this industry using these four reasons with very targeted campaigns. I can assure that a campaign based on the reasons mentioned would be much more effective than trying promote to people under a general keyword term like “DIETING”!!!!!

**Making Additional Income

Why do people want to make an additional income? Well, the obvious reasons would be so that they can have more freedom, and spend more. Eventhough may be true, are we answering the real question here?

People may want to make additional income because they have just lost their job. People want additonal income because they may need to get out of debt. People may want more money because they hate their day jobs. People want more money because they don’t want to work forever. People want to make money so when they retire they do not need to depend on social security. People want to make money to help with tuition fees or for extra money while they go to school.

If you promote the term “make money” in Google, you are not targeting an audience…you are targeting a market. You need to target a specific audience if you plan to be a successful Internet Marketer. People typing in a term like “make money” will not reveal which audience they represent. A college student might Google a keyword phrase like “easy way to pay tuition bills” or “earn money while going to school”. If you can construct a targeted site for college students, you could really tap into this niche market…

If anyone is having difficulty creating a successful campaign, they should think about the “why” before promoting to the audience. If you cannot figure this out, then chances are that you will not be able to deliver the right information to the right people. If this is the case, stop what you are doing and move on to the next industry!

Month End Recap- Just My Thoughts and Progress!

As you can see, last month was pretty slow on the POSTING end of things. Becoming a new Internet Marketer, Affiliate Marketer, Blogger, Website Builder, is not an easy thing. Even though I would love to see this blog flourish and grow into a PR7 Blog site one day, I would be happy with a PR 2 level rating right now. At least it would be a step in the right direction. So much of my day is spent just trying to educate myself with all the keys to Internet Marketing, and then trying to implement what I am learning. After a while you start feeling like I your spinning around in circles making no progress because of the inability to execute all of tasks that need to be completed as quickly as you would like. It dawned on me today that the end of May came and I only contributed two posts during the month. So I said to myself I need to be more consistent with my writing. While trying to decide on a topic is not easy at times, I found myself surfing some of the major on-line money blogs (e.g www.JohnCow.com) to see if I could get any ideas for this fetus of a blog that really has not even been born yet. It is my intent to continue on this quest of education and task completion until I have achieved satisfactory results. So that being said; I decided to just share last months progress. Going forward I will dedicate the first post of the month to recap my progress or any milestones obtained. At least I will not have to search for a worthy topic to write about once out of the month.

Most of May 2008 has been spent learning to use Squidoo as a marketing tool. As you can see I dedicated a post this month, solely on optimizing a Squidoo lens, and I am glad to say that I accomplished what I set out to do. Squidoo lenses are is going to play a major role with my marketing efforts. They are fairly easy to put together and they are FREE. I don’t need to purchase any domain names nor hosting accounts, and I can take advantage of the SEO favor granted to Squidoo from the search engines to generate high ranking pages. So far this month I generated two lenses that got indexed on the first page of Googles organic listings.

The key going into the month of June, is going to be based on searching for Niches. To become successful at this game we all need Niches to promote, and lots of them. Find out what people want, and find out where they are looking for those products. In layman terms what keyword tags are being used. If you can achieve a certain degree of success at finding HOT Niches and then create a powerful platform to offer the product in demand to your Niche, then we have done the hardest work.

Remember we have a choice of various arena’s that we can set up our promotion platforms. Your own website or blog is nice to have but you can definitely exploit other powerful platforms such as Squidoo, Ebay and PayPerClick advertising. I tend to prefer the FREE methods available to me especially if I am experimenting with something new. Paid advertising can get pretty expensive especially if you do not now if your sales are going to convert. Therefore, you can use article marketing to help promote your Niche and take full advantage of highly targeted FREE traffic that would be generated from your platform. Now we can just gauge and measure how to close the deal. So I’m going to be hitting the trenches, and I will be sure to share what I find with you. Until my next writing! Happy Marketing .
